CLUB POLICIES

-
Rain/ Wet Fields
Thunderstorms
In the event of lightning any time within 30 minutes of practice or games, all activities must be cancelled or suspended. If suspended, activity can only resume 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder.
Rain
Some of the best childhood memories are made by playing soccer in the rain and no games are canceled just because it is raining. However, the fields must be in a safe playing condition and we must not damage the fields. See below for criteria of how to determine if a field is playable. If the field IS playable and there are no club wide cancellations, game on!
Coaches are empowered to determine if the field is playable on the following guidelines:
*There is NO standing water anywhere on the field
*Your shoes don't sink when walking on the field
*Grass cannot be easily dislodged from the surface by normal play
Should any of the above conditions be present, the activity should be cancelled.
-
Temperature Safety
At temperatures between 100F and 104.9F coaches should take care in practice and games with frequent water breaks, substitutions, and reduced exertion. Younger age groups at the U8-U12 level should be especially conservative. Players with heat sensitivity should sit out.
Anytime temperatures are at or above 105F, practice and games must be cancelled.Coaches and managers are responsible for monitoring the forecast for the location & time of practice & games, and to notify their team accordingly. There is no requirement for advance notice, as real time decisions at the field may be required in some cases. Coaches are encouraged to provide advance notice to teams when possible on hot days.
-
Air Quality/Smoke & Pollution
Coaches and parents are encouraged to always keep the health and safety of our players at the forefront of any decision when it comes to air quality/smoke and/or pollution.
Air Quality Index (AQI)below 115: Activities allowed, but parents can hold their child out of practice. Coaches are to minimize physical activity at practice.
Air Quality Index (AQI)between 115-150 If the Air Quality in the Atwater/Winton area is greater than 115 Air Quality Index (AQI), all AKFC coaches are strongly encouraged to cancel practice, and/or conduct a limited exertion or “walk through” practice only.
Air Quality Index (AQI) above 150 If the Air Quality in Atwater/Winton area is greater than 150 Air Quality Index (AQI), all practices for all RSC teams MUST be cancelled.
